Out of Sight Media | A Day in the Life of the Paparazzi!

I arrived at the field at around 1:30 PM in preparation for the TomKat arrival. I knew that the game was going to start around 2:35 PM, because I am very smart. I looked around and I noticed a few familiar faces along with some new faces. Others were trickling in after I arrived. Soon there were plenty of us for a fun day at the park.

It was about 2:30 PM or so and Isabella had already warmed up. Her team was getting ready for the game. TomKat’s Head Security tells us that they are going to be arriving in about 5 minutes and that if we could be polite and not trample on each other, the people around the park, and especially on TomKat. We ar all professionals and we all agreed.

The black SUV makes a left onto the street and pulls into the driveway of the park entrance. Everyone is now excited and ready to hose. The SUV parks right in front of the pack and we start to wait for the door to open. After a few minutes, Tom Cruise walks out of the SUV alone. We follow him to the park bathroom and there we wait again for him to come out. After a minute or two, he comes out and the pack starts to hose him again. He was now heading to the fenced in soccer field. There was a security guard there so none of us could go in.

We all head to the other side of the park and the long, long, long lenses came out. Some of these guys where shooting with 500 mm with doublers. I was shooting at 300 mm with doublers. I was still able to knock off a couple of frames. I was getting bored and I decided that I was going to go back to the entrance around the park where I first started. Once I got there, I spotted Katie Holmes making a grand entrance. It was almost as if I had planned it. She smiled at me almost as if she was checking me out. j/k. I got a couple of frames as she entered the fenced in soccer field.

Now I had to run back to the other side of the park again to get shots of the couple together. I think I ended up getting over 400 shots of the couple.

The game was over. I ran back again to the other side. Luckily, TomKat were walking slow as they were being chatty with some of the other parents. After all, they have to pretend that they care for them. They need good press and that is why we were all there.

TomKat comes out and it was chaos all over again. Well, to close this story up, TomKat got in their blacked-out SUV and they left. No one followed!

I want to show you in a day or two a video of Matthew McConaughey and Lance Armstrong riding their bikes, so first I need to tell you about the day that The Ninja and myself hosed them on July 7, 2006.

We knew where Lance and Matthew were staying that night because The Ninja had spotted Matthew and Lance the night before at some club. While he spotted them, I was probably dreaming about starting a blog that was going to change the perspective and view people have of paparazzi. The Ninja was on a long follow all the way to Malibu.

The Ninja calls me on my Pap phone at around 7:30 AM. Now that is the earliest that I have ever woken up, especially to answer my Pap phone. I knew that it was important because he hasn’t started work that early since I have known him. He tells me, Dude, do you want to work on Matthew and Lance? I know where they are at! I said, ’sure’.

A few minutes later, I was on my way to Malibu. I got to the house at around 8:30 AM. I was surprised that a few Paps were already on standby. I parked and began to wait. This is the only doorstep that I have ever done since I became a freelance a few years ago. I hate waiting. I knew that The Ninja was going to be a little late since he lived further than I did.

With his impeccable luck, once The Ninja shows up, Matthew comes out the door with a bike in his hand. He did a little stretching just before Lance comes out with another bike. They started to set up their bikes on this SUV and soon, they head northbound on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway, for those that don’t know).

They get to their destination about twenty minutes later and they came out to chat with all of us. Matthew says to us ‘Ok, you guys can take pictures as long as you guys don’t block our way.’ All the paparazzi agreed and Matthew and Lance gave us the shots.

I might as well take credit for the shots that were taken by every celeb blogger in the world a few weeks ago. Ok… Here is the real story of that evening of the wet-spot.

It was July 5th and I was heading southbound on Doheny Drive when I spotted Carmen Electra heading the opposite direction. I made a U-turn and I started the follow. I was alone so I was keeping my distance. She gets to Sunset Blvd. and makes a right. I was just glad that she didn’t make a left since that would mean that she was heading home.

We were passing all the hotspots like the Coffee Bean, some eateries like Il Sole and Cafe Med, and finally she makes a left into an underground parking lot right under Sunset Tan. I continued a little bit forward to the next driveway and I entered the street level parking and I found a spot in the Handicap Zone.

I was hoping that Carmen would walk upstairs instead of taking the elevator to the second floor of the open building, but she didn’t. The next moment, I see her entering the tanning salon. I get my camera and I run up two flights of stairs and down to the salon. I looked inside and I spotted Carmen talking to the clerk. Without thinking I started to shoot. I knocked off a couple of frames before she noticed me. Once she spotted me, she turns around and walks to the back of the tanning salon.

It wasn’t until I was home that I noticed the ever-present wet spot on her bum. I also noticed that she was either scratching or just holding her crotch. I was so happy because I got the money shot. The next day, it was on every blog in the world. They didn’t even give me credit. Oh well, I wish I had this website back then so that I could have brought you the story first.

My Pap Alert starts going off the hook. I finally answered the call and the voice on the other end tells me, “Go to Robertson Blvd. Gabrielle Solis is getting her wig chopped again. She is at Ken Paves new salon.”

“Huh!” I responded.

The funny thing is that I was already heading that direction on Melrose Ave. I was actually already checking out the scene at Urth Cafe when I got the call. It was getting late in the day and I figured I needed a story that could sell. So, I headed to the salon.

When I got there, I counted close to 20 Paparazzi just hanging out. Yup! I was about to crash a massive orgi party. The gangbang hadn’t started yet. I actually figured that I was there early.

Whenever Ms. Gabrielle Solis goes to the salon, she hangs out there for about four to six hours. She even has food delivered to her while getting her wig trimmed. Oh well, we waited and waited. We were getting so bored that we all actually had a conversation.

Three hours later, we see a silhouette of her walking through a little crack in the door. The paparazzi get ready, the door starts to open, and the cameras start going off. The gangbang was in full effect. Everyone starts backing up in her direction.

She loved the attention so much, that she couldn’t contain her laughter. I was actually getting scared. She looked very evil laughing, that she had to stop walking. She opened her mouth to laugh and it felt that she was going to swallow us whole. Ok! I am exaggerating a little, but that is the way she looked in the pictures.

She gave us the shots. She got what she wanted (the attention from all the male paparazzi in the gangbang!), and she even took some pictures with some fans.

By the way, for those of you who don’t watch “Desperate Housewives” and have not figured out who Garielle Solis is, it is Eva Longoria. And Gaz, thanks for letting me use this image of you in my blog.

I was heading northbound on La Cienega Blvd. and as I was about to pass the Norms and the Car Wash, I spotted Brody Jenner heading southbound. I only got a quick glimpse at him so I couldn’t verify if Nicole Richie was in the car also.

I had to make a U-turn and I chased him for a while. Soon, we hit traffic and it became a little hard to get next to him so that I could verify who else was in the car; alone he is not worth anything. We were now getting close to the entrance to the 10 freeway and I finally saw that he actually just had a buddy of his and no Nicole. Damn! I had gone way far from my route. So at that moment, I decided to continue following him. He entered the freeway and was heading westbound towards the beach. I followed and I finally decided that if he doesn’t get out on 4th St., which is the last exit before the 10 freeway ends and becomes the Pacific Coast Highway, that I was going to leave it alone, because I was not about to go to Malibu.

Sure enough, he didn’t get off, but I did! At that moment I started my Santa Monica route. I headed up to Montana Ave. I was making my first pass and I quickly spotted Patrick Dempsey getting into his fancy car. This is the first time that I have seen him in person. I pulled over on the side, but I couldn’t get any shots. So I waited for the chase. I started to look around and I started spotting all these blacked-out Toyota 4Runners. One, two, three, four, five… Wow! There were five other people already on him. I didn’t even know that they were there.

Patrick starts his car and drives past me. I take the lead, following directly behind him. He makes his first left. I stopped a little to distance myself and give him space, then I made a left. Following me were the other paparazzi. They were all Old School Paps, so they knew that I was giving him distance. These Paps where not trying to run me off the road; New School Paps would have done just that. Well, he makes his first right. I pulled over to the side and the second car behind me takes the lead. He makes a right and then I followed, behind me were the other guys. The funny thing is that we were all competition, but we all synchronized on the follow.

Patrick makes another left. We start giving him more distance. I ultimately think that he was just killing time, since he had nothing better to do. He pulls over and starts to wait. All the other paparazzi scattered and we all drove different directions in search of the perfect spot to shoot in case he exits his car.

Well, to make a long story short. Patrick Dempsey never came out of his car, and it turns out that one of the guys on the chase was already on Dr. Derek Shepherd from earlier in the day. So I told him that I was going to leave the story for him to distribute. I left and continued on my route. I don’t want any beef from friendly fire.

I went to Santa Barbara, California today to work on some modifications to this website. Why did I go to Santa Barbara, you may ask? Because, I have a friend up there who is the best at programming. I needed to add some PHP and Java to this site to make it more user-friendly. Well, I hope that you all have noticed the significant improvements that have been made.

Hey geeky readers, you can continue reading (Don’t worry, I actually understand this web stuff so I guess that makes me kinda geeky as well)

One improvement is that it now fits in your screen… I have changed the resolution of the Blog from 1124 to 980, which is a significant improvement so that most readers can see the entire width without scrolling right and left. I think this one was very important to modify.

Another modification is that every time that you click on the next page at the bottom of the Blog, the Blog refreshes and takes you to the top of the browser. Before, the reader had to scroll all the way up to read the new material which got annoying. I hope that you all enjoy this change. This should make the site a little easier to navigate.

Another major improvement was making the Comments Link a little bigger and colorful, so that you guys don’t forget to leave me you comments. Finally, I will not get any more complains that they can’t find the comment link.

The last improvement was making the site resize to the appropriate site height. This one is complicated to understand, so I am not even going to begin to explain this.

So, I promise tomorrow, I will bring you guys new material for you guys to read. So, please pass this website to your friends and colleagues. Tell people on the street and help me get the word out about this site. Help me give my story the way I see it, and to help me bring understanding to those people that have a misunderstanding about the paparazzi.

I hope that you all continue to be loyal readers and I hope that you all continue to enjoy this site.

By the way, I have asked some of my paparazzi friends to send me their stories with their pictures, so that you can also see it and live our life through their eyes. They are competitors out on the field, but friends in real life. This is going to be fun!

OK… I am going to go back a few days when Eva Longoria and Tony Parker had lunch at Cafe Med in West Hollywood. Remember! Yeah! That was the day that The Ninja and I got jumped.

Today I wasn’t able to find anyone worth shooting and I wasn’t about to go shoot the gangbang of Tara Reid having lunch at the Ivy or the Lindsay Lohan gangbang at Joan’s on Third, since I want to work on exclusives as much as possible.

However, by the end of the day, I was running out of time and running out of options. I was willing to shoot anything so that I could at least hear my camera going off.

I was heading southbound on Robertson Blvd. as I spotted Stacy Keibler. I parked across the street and I got my long lens out. She was walking straight towards me.

It felt so good to finally hear my camera going off.

Today was a typical slow Friday. I spotted a lot of celebrities, but none worth shooting. I spotted Michelle Trachtenberg, Marc McGrath, Rachel Stevens, and Stifler’s Mom – Jennifer Coolidge. But the best thing I spotted today was my future Paparazzi Car.

It is the Mercedes SLR McLaren, painted in race paint.

Why this car? Because I would be able to keep up with all the crazy celebrity drivers like Lindsay Lohan, Heath Ledger, and Josh Hartnett, who drive as if they are on a race track with no respect for the law.

They run red lights, frequently don’t stop at stop signs, and drive as if they own the street. Maybe that is the real reason why Lindsay is always getting into accidents?! Huh!

My Pap Alert goes off; it was The Ninja. He tells me, Dude, I think I just spotted Molly Sims. I asked him where he was and he said that he was at Cafe Med. He wasn’t one hundred percent sure that it was her, so I told him that I was going to go check.

When I got there, I confirmed that it was Molly. He had already taken a few shots. Then out of nowhere, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker show up. We were there alone. No other paparazzi were present. Molly Sims took off and we started to concentrate on Eva and Tony.

I parked at the top parking lot and The Ninja came by to pick me up. We wanted to keep it totally stealth for a few minutes to get the nice shots. We knew that we were going to get jumped just by where she was.

We began to circle around Sunset Plaza South and began shooting from across the street. We were actually able to get the kissing and everything. Eva and Tony knew that we were around; they kissed just as we were circling and in position to shoot.

Soon after all those shots, it became chaos; everyone showed up. Even those that we thought we had an agreement with to not jump us, showed up to jump us. I hope that they don’t submit the photos of Eva, so that we can continue to honor the agreement.

Well, Eva and Tony finished their lunch and left from the back of the restaurant. They were nice and gave us some shots, then they took off.

We were circling around Sunset Plaza South going around the parking lot because we were shooting Eva Longoria and her boyfriend, Tony Parker, across the street at Cafe Med.

We were doing this because she was facing eastbound, which makes it hard to shoot since you have to be across the street to get any angles of her face. I even had to ride in the back seat of The Ninja’s mobile so that he can concentrate on the driving and I could get clean shots. Even though he was supposed to concentrate on the driving, he still shot a lot.

Well, as we did one of those circles, Mario Lopez rushes by in front of our car. We yelled his name so that he would look at us. Unfortunately, he was really quick and he got in his car.

He was kind enough to stick out his head so that we could take a shot of that. Then he waved bye as he took off.

By the way, what do you guys think of his dancing on “Dancing with the Stars”? Are you guys voting for him?

I was heading eastbound on Melrose Ave. I was getting ready to make a right on Crescent Heights Blvd. to check out Fred Segal. All of a sudden I spotted Rachel Hunter heading westbound.

Man! That was the hardest U-turn I have ever done. I had to go from the right lane across two lanes of traffic into oncoming traffic. Lucky for me, the oncoming traffic was caught on a red light at Crescent Heights Blvd.

I quickly caught up to her since there was no traffic heading eastbound. Then she makes a left and I realized that she was going to be finding parking to head to her pilates workout. I pulled over in a little driveway across the street from her gym and I got my camera out. I ran across the street and waited close to the entrance. I didn’t know that there was another paparazzo there until he came running behind me. She saw that we were there waiting for her. She didn’t look too happy. Still in her car, she lowers the visor and checks herself out in the mirror. Maybe she was mad because she didn’t have any make-up on?

She comes out of her car and I hosed her. I got enough shots then I took off. I know that the other paparazzo stayed behind and waited for her.

I hope that she had a good workout.
