A Day in the Life of the Paparazzi!
Famke Janssen
Catch-Up! (Part V) : This Is The Story Of Famke Janssen!
Jan 29th
It was getting late on Friday. After photographing Phoebe Price at the Ivy and earlier that day getting Michelle Rodriguez I was very satisfied with my day. After all, I had my daily allowance of spots by then. I was driving on Sunset Blvd heading eastbound. I was going to go get some coffee so that I could reflect on my day.
I was almost there when all of a sudden I spotted this chick walking her dog who had a resemblance to a celeb. I almost didn’t think anything of it since she was walking on Sunset Blvd. I don’t know any celeb out there that walks their dog on Sunset Blvd, one of the most heavily traveled paparazzi routes, unless they are really desperate for attention.

Well, I made a U-turn to take a closer look. Yup! I was right, it was Famke Janssen walking this little dog. I don’t know what she was thinking. It was actually a little hard to shoot her old school because of all the traffic. So I got my long lens and from across the street I started to light her up.
She didn’t notice me because I was kinda far away. She turned back and started to head the other direction. She was now heading towards the Chateau Marmont.

I am going to make this story short cause I am tired and I am on vacation. I was lighting her up and she finally saw me. She started to cover her face. Well, luckily for me, I also had my short lens in my camera bag that I was carrying while on foot. So I whipped it out and I started to hose her. She was really pissed. She said to me, “Why don’t you go photograph someone that wants to be photographed, like the Olsen Twins?” If only she knew that the Olsen Twins really don’t like to be photographed. Then she says to me, “I just want my privacy.” PLEASE!!! You are walking on Sunset Blvd with your freaking dog! It is almost like going to the Ivy and not wanting your picture taken.

She was being a spoiled little B#$%H. I actually did not feel sorry for her. She turned around so that I couldn’t get a shot of her face. She actually was there waiting for me to leave. I told her, “let me get a good shot of you and I will leave. You can then carry on with your dog walking.” She got more upset.
I then told her, “Look, I can’t leave until I get a shot of you.” Pissed of she turns around and starts walking towards me. I get a few shots and off she went. If only she would have complied earlier, it would have been done with.

EXCLUSIVE: I Am Surprised I Spotted Famke Janssen!
Dec 13th
Unfortunately it was already getting dark. It was one of those moments when you look at your setting in your camera and you are not really sure what to do. I wasn’t going to put on my flash since I was exclusive and I wanted to do her old school. I was kinda hopping that she was heading to the grocery store or to the coffee shop.

Nope! She makes a left on a certain street and I realized that she was heading home. I followed her up the hill and soon she was pulling into a drive way.

I had less time than I thought. I know these pictures are not going to sell but I knew I had to get a few shots of her so that I can have material for this blog.

She comes out of her car; I managed to get only four shots of her before she walked into her house. I was kinda bummed out about that since it was no good for selling. Not only that, I looked at my shots and they were also not that good. This is when all the hatters out there can comment on how I am no good at photography. It is all good. Luckily, it was not a money shot. However, she did show me where she lives.

EXCLUSIVE: Today I was the Babysitter!
Aug 1st
Since I stayed up very late last night, I didn’t get up until 12 PM today. I was feeling a little under the weather, but I couldn’t go back to sleep as it was too hot and I was sweating. Besides, I promised a friend of mine that I was going to take her niece, Melanie, out on the town. Melanie is 14 years old and she just came from England a few days ago. There was no way I could let her down on my promise.
After showering and having my ‘morning’ coffee, which my wonderful girlfriend makes for me everyday, I got my gear ready and I was off to pick up Melanie from Auntie Georgie’s work. As I was driving down Santa Monica Blvd., I spotted Matthew Perry and his girlfriend in a new Silver Bentley. It was a hard U-Turn, but I got caught on a red light. Luckily, I could still make out his car one block ahead, where Matthew was also caught on a red light. My light turned green, I hit the gas pedal straight down to the floor hoping to catch up to Matthew, while Matthew’s light turns green. Damn! I hit the brakes. I couldn’t believe what just happened! A big Coca Cola Truck is making a left turn straight onto my path. This is where I lost the Game.
I made a U-turn and continued on my course to Georgie’s work.
I got to Georgie’s work about 2:00 PM. Wow, for a second there I was thrown back by how much her belly has grown. She is six month’s pregnant and she was glowing.
Because of my incident with Matthew, I thought today was not going to be my day. So, I told Melanie, ‘Just be forewarned, we may not find anybody today!’ She was cool with it. So we were on our way. I started by cruising down the route I take in Santa Monica since we were there already. I couldn’t find anybody so I was showing her the local shops that celebs like to go into.
It was now close to 3:00 PM and no luck yet. I finally said to myself, ‘Screw this! Let’s go find celebs in Hollywood – my home town.’ We were now driving down Wilshire Blvd. attempting to make it to Beverly Hills; it is the quickest way to get to West Hollywood. Almost down to Santa Monica Blvd. and I spotted Maria Shriver driving solo with her security entourage in a big black SUV behind her. I actually had to slow down so that they could pass me because she was driving slow. But then again, I might have been flying down the street. I told Melanie, ‘Can you see her?’ Melanie said, ‘Yes.’ Maria was our first spot together.
I kinda got bored driving behind Maria and her caravan. I asked Melanie if she wanted to go find a bigger celeb. Melanie agreed. We both agreed that Maria is not worth getting pictures of if she is alone. Actually, she is not worth anything even if she is with Arnold.
They both have to be together with the kids in order to have a chance at making a good sale on the picture. So we left the story. I made a left on Santa Monica Blvd. and Maria carried on Wilshire Blvd.
Not too long after that left turn, actually not even a block from making that turn, I spotted Halle Berry again. I made a quick controlled U-turn in front of traffic (Please don’t try that at home!!).
Melanie’s blood was running at high-speed now. Not because of Halle, but because she thought that a truck was going to slam on us when I made the controlled U-turn.
She started to laugh and got excited about the chase. She was complaining earlier that I drive like a grandma, but I only drive like a grandma when I am trying to spot a celeb, I later explained. Once the target has been acquired, then the game is on. I am a Rally Racer after that.
Halle takes me deep into West LA., close to the park on Motor Blvd. Yup! There was a studio there with security and the works, once again, no shots, but Melanie at least got to see Halle inside her car. Maybe my luck from this morning is still active.
OK! I am rambling too much; I have to save words for another Blog, so I am going to get straight to the point. I spotted Mark McGrath going to his favorite gym. I called him over and I told him a little lie.
I told him that his biggest fan just came from England just to see him (keep in mind, Melanie has no clue who he is).
Since Melanie has a cute face, Mark believed me! He went up to her and they took a picture together.

I told Mark that I was showing her the town and the celebs. He let me take a few pics and he was on his way after shaking my hand.

Yup! Marc has always been really cool to the paparazzi.

Later, we found Famke Janssen. She decided to go shopping at Whole Foods in West Hollywood. I was hosing her down inside the store, then Famke went to the cashier counter and I went outside to wait for her.

I was shooting her clean.

All of a sudden this ‘Good Samaritan’ was trying to be a hero, saving Famke from getting her picture taken from the ‘evil paparazzi.’ All she did was get in the way of a perfect shot!

Famke already knew that I was there. I was after all hosing her down inside the store. People Please!! There is a working relationship between the celeb and the paparazzi. If the celeb doesn’t get his/her picture taken, then he/she doesn’t make any money. Don’t be a ‘Good Samaritan!’ All you are doing is getting in the way and bothering both the celeb and the paparazzi. You are making both the celeb and the paparazzi loose money. So, just let us do our job. Let the celeb do their job. Yes! It is a job.

Doesn’t the ‘Good Samaritan’ look foolish?
Tah Tah.
