A Day In The Life Of The Paparazzi features a living vicariously approach to depicting the trade of the paparazzo, with self-narrated adventures in every vignette and interspersed photographs that aptly represent the craft. Through them, the author convincingly declares, “I am part of the entertainment industry and without me or without the other paparazzi out there, celebrities wouldn’t be who they are.” Follow the author and photographer, Henry Flores, on his pursuit to get that perfect shot. As he famously states, “Sometimes you only have seconds to react, so you have to always be prepared, because those mere seconds are all you may get to secure a good shot!”

A Day In The Life Of The Paparazzi curates shockingly candid, under-produced portraits of larger-than-life personalities like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears into a work of art. The front cover of the book has a picture of Lindsay Lohan surrounded by paparazzi, which he took while she was at the peak of her career. The book begins with a raucous image of Lindsay Lohan leaving Paris Hilton’s house at four o’clock in the morning, and ends with intimate shots of Henry Flores and other celebrities. I met up with a good friend of mine who came to visit for the weekend. We were sitting at Urth Cafe having lunch. We were there for about an hour. To my surprise, I see Swedish Model, Alexia Starchild walking with a female friend. She was heading just down the street to where my friend and I were. Well, my friend and I were done eating so we decided to check it out. I grabbed my camera and we went to take a look. I quickly noticed her inside the store and started to take some pictures. She didn’t know that I was around for a little bit until my buddy started making it obvious by getting a shot on his cell phone. She just smiled.

While at the beach from my previous encounter, I was actually surprised to see Dawn Olivieri making her way to a bench where she sat for about an hour hanging out and reading her a magazine. I got her a week or so ago at this same beach playing racquetball with a male friend while wearing a bikini. She looked great. I didn’t stick around too much after that and I carried on. There is only so many photos that you can get of a person reading and enjoying herself.

I have always said that some of the best photographs happen when you least expect it. After my previous encounter on the beach, I decided to go for a walk along the coast line enjoying the weather, the air, and the beautiful people. That is when I stumbled upon a familiar face. It wasn’t after my double take that I realized that it was the gorgeous tattooed girl from the hit television series Heroes. She was Dawn Olivieri. She was playing Racquetball with a male friend when I found her. She looked incredible. I was wondering what happened to the tattoos. I guess they were painted on. Regardless, I carried on taking pictures. I took a seat close to a life guard booth and took a few more. Soon, she was playing Volleyball. It was an incredible thing to see. She was really good.

Every once in a while I head to the beach to take a break from life and to enjoy nature and witness the power of the ocean. It so happens that I also go looking for celebrities.
