EXCLUSIVE: My First Iconic Image Of Jessica and John Smiling!
I was still asleep when my Pap Alert started going off the hook. By the third time that it rang, I figured that it was something important. It was about 1:00 PM on Saturday and I was still sleeping, well, until I got woken up. When I answered, I looked to see who it was and it was my girlfriend. She says to me, “I have a good tip for you.” I asked her, “What is it?”
“Jessica Simpson and John Mayer just …
walked into the restaurant that I am eating at,” she said to me. Well, that was good enough reason to get out of bed and get ready really quick. I put on my old clothes from the day before and I headed to the restaurant.
When I got there, my girl had left since she had other plans to attend to. Since she had left, I didn’t really have a good indication as to whether they were still inside, so I decided to survey the area. I went into the restaurant and I asked for a takeout menu. You know, pretending to be interested in eating there. 
As the hostess moved away to go find one, I looked around the restaurant and sure enough, my target was acquired.
They were inside having lunch with another person. According to my girl, before she left, Jessica and John shared a kiss; too bad that I was not inside to take that picture. I waited outside across the street on in a public parking lot. I was really debating whether to hose them using the long lens or hose them with the short lens.
Eventually I decided to hose them with the short lens since I was going to also do video. There is a catch-22 with the video world vs. the photo world. In the video world editors want up close and personal so that you can see interaction. With the photo world, editors want natural shots and they prefer that you actually shoot from far away with a fast lens to wipe out the background. Yes, the paparazzi nowadays don’t know this stuff and so they shoot very short. Well, short it was for me since I wanted to sell my video too. Anyway, the time had finally come and they exited the restaurant…the rest is history.
