EXCLUSIVE: Lindsay Was Served Legal Papers Subpoenaing Her To Appear In Court!
Yup! I was the one that broke this story. I was hanging out in my house when I get the hottest tip ever; it made me just run to my car and go to the Beverly Hilton where Lindsay Lohan was attending the 21st Annual American Cinematheque Award Honoring George Clooney. The tip was to hang out with the process server and show her were Lindsay was. Apparently, they have been looking for Lindsay for months in an attempt to serve her with legal papers subpoenaing her to appear in court. I felt like Dog the Bounty Hunter; hunting for Lindsay Lohan and doing justice.
I was for once doing something that is acceptable by society; even though it is somewhat similar to what I do everyday. Go figure!

By then, all the event photographers had taken off. I was hiding my camera inside my bag. The event was still in progress. I think that the guests where being served some fancy food. One hour passed and it was now close to 11:00 PM on Friday. Some of the event guests started to come out. I knew that I had to resist temptation and not blow my cover. The first couple that I saw was Cindy Crawford with her husband, then I saw Christian Slater and his wife, then I saw Julia Roberts. I was biting my tongue the entire time and holding on to the ground. I was not going to photograph anyone but my target, Lindsay Lohan.

She finally comes out and I told the process server to get ready. The plan was that she was going to pretend that she was a fan and that she wanted to get her autograph. Lindsay finally makes it out of the main entrance and the process server was off. She was so fast that I had to step up my pace. I was getting out my camera as we were approaching Lindsay. I thought that we were going to get in trouble since there were so many security guards. There were so many people blocking the way, but I was able to get slightly to the right side of the server. She begs Lindsay for an autograph. Lindsay had a cell phone in one hand and a bag of goodies in the other. Lindsay was really happy and gets convinced to sign. She says, “This is going to be my first autograph,” and she takes the folder. The process server yells out, “You have been served!” The process server turns right around and runs away.

Lindsay’s face turned ghostly. She looks at the papers and in shock, drops them to the floor. Then Lindsay starts running after the process server. She calls security, but it was too late. They stopped her because it was a legal matter. The funny thing was that I was ignored the whole time. I kept taking pictures. Everyone was in so much shock from that event that no one even noticed me. After the fire had calmed down, I got the hell out of there before they realized that I was involved.

Great job on this one! Your story is now spreading like wild fire on all the blogs. You’re even being quoted by Perez.
Good gossip!

You suck, leave the poor girl alone.
on October 16th, 2006 at 12:35 pm
That was horrible. If she was nice enough to sign an autograph I think that was a really mean trick to play on her. Agreed with Gary, leave the poor girl alone.
on October 16th, 2006 at 12:50 pm
HAHAHA…………I LOVE IT! Hey, she is a big girl and an adult and she should have accepted these legal papers before this. If she is trying to be slick and not “get served” then she deserved what she got!
Sucks to be her!
on October 16th, 2006 at 12:56 pm
Great get! I just wish you’d stick to writing in either the past tense or the present tense rather than flipping between the two.

Why not just go to her legal team directly, a decent lawyer would want to deal with whatever it is rather than have his client publicly embarassed. This kind of smells like a set up for a photo op to humiliate her, rather than to do a legit legal transaction. Which kind of makes you a chickenshit for helping someone who couldn’t figure out who her attorney is.
I hope you make a bundle on those pictures, you really should be rewarded for your assistance to the Helen Keller of process servers.

Hahaha, someone obviously neglected to do ANY research. First of all, service of process for a subpoena is done by registered mail, return reciept, so how they were “looking for Lindsay for months” is a little strange. All you need is an address or place of business. Second, subpoenaing is not a word. She is being asked to testify or possible just submit interogatories in a case against her mother. If she didnt comply, the lawyer filing the complaint would just issue a motion to compel. I know…this must have been too much for you to look into in your tizzy over Lindsay. Any signature obtained under fraud or duress is INVALID anyway. Nice pics, did you make up the story all by yourself? Because you obviously have NO clue what you are talking about. Wow.
on October 16th, 2006 at 3:52 pm
how very fucked up of you.
on October 16th, 2006 at 3:58 pm
Law said “service of process for a subpoena is done by registered mail, return reciept,”
Dude, that is only ONE way. The other is just what they did here. Looks legit.
ALSO
“Any signature obtained under fraud or duress is INVALID anyway. ” Yeah for contracts, idiot! Not for process! You DID NOT GO TO LAW SCHOOL. If you did, it was for a semester before you failed out. You really ought NOT to speak up.

This is a totally legal, and legitimate way to serve someone. Actually, you CAN NOT just mail a summons, the person HAS to take possession of papers. If you mail it, they can say they never received it. This way, the person can’t deny it since they had the summons in their hands. It doesn’t matter that she dropped it. She was served.
on October 16th, 2006 at 5:22 pm
What I don’t understand is why she said it was her first autograph… was I reading it right, Lindsay said that? I can’t imagine that she has never had anyone come up and ask her for her autograph before, was she just talking about that night?
on October 16th, 2006 at 5:50 pm
Legal papers are served multiple ways. They are first mailed to the address and then followed up by a process server who takes them and hand delivers them to the person 2-3 weeks after the original papers were mailed. They have to physically give them to the person the second time, and the person can reject taking them, the process server just has to record that the person refused and then it becomes a matter of the court. As long as its recorded that the person refused them with proof that the server actually talked to them ( ie physical description, address, etc. )They can also be followed up a 3rd time depending on the matter.

lindsay lohan’s stupid, did she not see that the paper was not blank! She must have noticed that there was text all over the sheet? Is’nt it suspicious when someone is aking that she sign on a specified line. Why would you be asked to sign on a specific line for an autograph?
on October 16th, 2006 at 7:47 pm
This is funny for so many reasons. Keep up the good work!
on October 17th, 2006 at 12:41 am
Well obviously it had to be done this way. Have you watched process servers in action? People will do anything to avoid being served. I’m pretty sure her legal team were avoiding the papers. She was probably avoiding touching them herself so she “wouldn’t be served.”
This is a very legit way to serve papers and perhaps the only way to get them to Lindsay.
Um her first autograph? Like ever? Of course I’d never ask for her autograph, but I’m sure someone has.

Lindsay Lohan Gets Served…
Henry of OutOfSightMedia.com blogged about assisting a process server in handing Lindsay Lohan legal papers subpoenaing her to appear in court at the 21st Annual American Cinematheque Award Honoring George Clooney. Henry writes that after Lohan…
on October 17th, 2006 at 7:50 am
I don’t know why everyone cares so much. It’s her life not ours.
on October 17th, 2006 at 9:18 am
way to tarnish all good hearted fans out there…
just making the celebrities sign/greet less and less fans
and she said this was her “first autograph” of the night… idiots.
i thought this was cruel, i mean c’mon theres more normal / less devilish ways to do this. no sh*t she’s hard to get a hold of, she’s a celeb goin from town to town all the time!
on October 17th, 2006 at 10:01 am
They should just track down her mom for god sake. If our parents make mistakes or whatever, the kids shouldnt be brought into it! Losers!
on October 17th, 2006 at 12:07 pm
Wow, I didn’t think so many people would care so much about whether serving Lindsay in this way was right or wrong. It’s just another day in Hollywood. I just liked your description on how it went down, I was even getting nervous for you ha ha. Nice work. I suppose it is unfortunate in a way that it came down to this for her but there you go, I’ll save my tears for now.
on October 17th, 2006 at 12:53 pm
Let’s clear something up: the process server, in most cases, has to serve the papers to the individual being served, unless that individual (or a corporation, which Lohan is not) has an attorney serving as her/its proxy. This is how process servers work. Ruby Jackson is correct.
Rey – yes, she was referring to that first autograph of the night. Idiot. Nicole, it was a blank envelope, not a printed document. The docs are in the envelope. Brainiac. Tina, please read the paragraph above. Moron. To all multiple comment posters, you are smart.
And to those who defend Lindsay Lohan – Jesus, get a life. She cares not one whit about you. Put down In Style, pick up The Economist, man up and make a change.
Don’t make me come back here.

Well Im not sure how I feel about this – on one hand u have to make money, on the other this is kind of evil to do, dontcha think? But tis true, it made an awesome story lol

Wow! Well done! It’s about time that self-centred wannabe got what was coming to her! lol

judging by her reaction, do you honestly think that she would have signed anything had they not tricked her? She would have had her bouncers pull them back… or something.
They know where her mother is, her mother is being sued, but lindsay has to *testify*. No one’s sueing a helpless child because they can’t reach her mother.
Who cares what impact this has for fans and their ability to get autographs? are you living in such a sheltered world that a fan’s rights should win out over the law?? They do what they have to.
Even if they could have submitted these documents by registered mail, there would be no proof that she got them. Do you think she checks her own mail? NO! It all goes through her PR people, so they could sign for it and she could claim that she never received it. Simple.

As a process server myself, serving people at some sort of event is a last, last resort, when home and then work, become impossible. What some who have posted here seem to overlook, is that someone like Lohan probably lives in a gated community, where the guards wouldn’t let anyone through. Likewise, they’re not going to let a measly process server into Universal Studios as she’s filming a movie.
I’ve often found that many wealthy people have let things go to their heads to the point where they literally have themselves convinced they’re above the law, and that a messenger delivering official legal papers approved by our court system for about the same pay as a pizza or cab driver, is suddenly the BAD GUY.
I serve people from every walk of life, and although there certainly isn’t any subcategory of humanity that hasn’t annoyed the hell out of me yet; the wealthy who should be educated enough to realize hiding from the legal system is something silly, and are to me, the most pathetic. At least poor people hiding from a $600 summons over a delinquent cell phone bill from 5 years ago, because having it garnished from their wages would cut too much into their cigratte or beer budget, are halfway RESPECTABLE.
