I was about to go home that day. It was quiet all day and I wasn’t finding any celebrity anywhere.
I east, west, north and south on various streets and nothing. Then there is was… Patrick Dempsey’s black and orange Porsche. It was parked in front of the L’Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills. Well, I wasn’t one hundred percent certain that it was his because I have never seen him drive it in real life. I’ve only seen it in competitors websites when they display a video of Patrick driving away. You know… You have seen those videos too…
I found parking right away and I started to wait. And Wait… And Wait… Nothing… By this time, the valet decided to drive his car into the underground parking and so I had no visual, but I continued to wait. And Wait… And Wait… Nothing…
After two sold hours of waiting, I was really feeling disappointed and discouraged that I decided to drive away. I figured that I was already going towards Downtown Beverly Hills that I keep going and see if anyone else was there…
Nothing… I was really going to call it quits… I started to back track since that is also my way home. I decided to drive past that hotel just in case. I was now heading eastbound on Burton Way. Just as I was driving past the hotel… Guess what?
There he was, just coming out of the hotel… Lucky for me, his car was not there. He had to wait for it. As everyone knows, when you are heading eastbound you cannot make a U-turn because of the giant island. So I had to go all the way to the light one block away to make a legal U-turn.
Of Course, I had to wait for the red light to turn green. Everything was starting to factor in… to make a long story short, I found parking. I grabbed by short lens because I wasn’t going to have enough time to prepare and I ran towards the hotel. Just in that moment, I see the Porsche emerge from the underground parking. I was not only racing the sun going down, I was racing, the Porsche and Patrick.
He sees the car… I see him… The valet people see me… His friend sees me… He had no choice… He smiled… I hosed him down… He got into his car… He took off… I took off… The valet people were stunned.
But I got this amazing shot. Well, I am really proud of it.
